An Amazon Prime membership certainly has its benefits, including unlimited access to streaming movies, TV shows, and music on Prime Video and Prime Music, free 2-day shipping (or same-day delivery on certain orders over $25), and the ability to shop limited-time deals during Prime Day.

But perhaps you need to give your bank account a break from another digital subscription and would prefer to spend your $14.99 per month (or $139 per year) elsewhere.

If you've previously tried to figure out how to cancel Amazon Prime and felt frustrated, you're not alone. Users have to navigate through multiple confirmation pages to unsubscribe and are presented with numerous options on each page that all look similar. But as long as you read your options carefully before you click, you'll be able to successfully cancel and maybe even get a refund for the unused portion of your membership. Of course, you can resubscribe to Amazon Prime at any time if you change your mind!

Here, we're spelling out exactly how to cancel Amazon Prime. Thankfully, the steps are the same whether you are trying to cancel your membership (or 30-day free trial) via desktop browser, mobile browser, or the Amazon app. Read on to start the process.

  5. On the next page, select the button labeled "Continue to Cancel."

Will Amazon give you a refund if you've canceled your membership?

If you cancel your Prime membership, Amazon will issue a refund for the period you've paid for and will not be able to use going forward. Whether it's a full or partial refund depends on whether the Prime benefits have already been used.

Per Amazon's website: "If you and your invited household members haven't yet taken advantage of Prime during the paid period, we'll refund the full membership fee for that period. Otherwise, we'll reimburse the membership fee pro rata, calculated based on the remaining (full) months of the current membership period."
