Brave Dog and Baby Shark Become Beachside Besties in Viral Video

Well, you probably weren't expecting your daily dose of cuteness overload to include an adorable dog and a just-as-cute Hammerhead shark playing together at the beach and yet here we are.

The video belongs to TikTok user @ Kalalakoala02 and shared by the New York Post.

We aren't sure if this pup was simply celebrating Shark Week or just excited to have a new playmate. In the original video, the creator explains, "Please note the baby hammerhead was not harmed at all by the dog! She followed the shark curiously and I kept an eye on both the whole time."

Facebook users are finding this unlikely due pretty charming, and @Robert comments, "Puppy, I don't know what kinda memory a Hammer Head Shark has, but that thing is going to be 40 times bigger before too long, So you might want to go hang out at a lake or a swimming pool from now on, Just Say'in.'" @Kim replies, "They think the baby shark's mom is around.Cute video. I'm sure the owner kept a close eye so the dog didn't go far out."

Sadly, due to overfishing and habitat destruction a lot of species of Hammerheads have become critically endangered. These sharks are usually shy and tend to avoid humans, and their populations are declining globally.

So should you be considered about a shark snacking on your beloved dog? According to HowStuffWorks, the answer is no. Of the more than 350 known species of sharks, none prefer the piquant taste of your favorite pet.

If you yourself are concerned about being eaten by a shark, statistics say that you are 33 times more likely to be attacked by a dog.

If you would like to support the conservation of these beautiful and deserving creatures, you can find more information by visiting Shark Trust at their website here.
