On a normal day for Bradley Cooper—like, say, when he goes for a stroll alongside an industry wildcard like Daniel Day-Lewis—he appears every inch the veteran leading man. Typically, that means he’s wearing a variation on the famous-guy uniform of dark shades, a nondescript tonal outfit in navy or black, and expensive sneakers. But lately, the Maestro maestro has been cranking up the volume on his usual ensembles, with the addition of some conspicuously swaggy streetwear.
Over the weekend, the actor went on a post-Thanksgiving outing in Manhattan wearing a whopper of an outfit (and, for what it’s worth, a hell of a well-kempt beard and tidy buzzcut). Aside from Cooper’s taupe beanie, army fatigue cargo pants embellished with patriotic stars and stripes, and Travis Scott’s Air Jordan 1s (his favorite sneakers as of late), the centerpiece was his hype-slicked varsity jacket from Swedish golf brand J.Lindeberg’s collaboration with American outerwear specialists Golden Bear, which he wore open over a striped sweater from Guest in Residence, the cashmere label founded by model—and Cooper’s rumored girlfriend—Gigi Hadid. BCoop looked like he had turned his swag on—or, as the Wall Street Journal’s men's fashion columnist Jacob Gallagher put it, like he’d “raided the Karmaloop Black Friday sale.”
The actor has worn a number of Gigi-tinged pieces over the last few months, from her brand’s colorful knitwear to a limited-edition set of Guest in Residence-designed Adidas Sambas, which Cooper and Hadid both recently sported. Last month, he went for a walk in what looked a lot like a camel-toned pair of Guest in Residence’s $485 “Everywear” cashmere lounge pants, which he paired with a roomy polyester Philadelphia Eagles hoodie and Salomon walking shoes.
These sorts of keyed-up garments—the rumor-fueling cashmere, the sneakerhead kicks, the flashy sports memorabilia—are solidly in Cooper’s off-duty wardrobe rotation these days. Amid the actor’s steady stream of Salomons, Sambas, and Travis Scott Jordans, he’ll toss in a puffy Moncler zip-up, or an Allen Iverson varsity jacket, or a Gucci x The North Face puffer, or those aforementioned patriotic fatigues. When Cooper and Day-Lewis hung out recently, did DDL pass along a few of his post-swag secrets?
