Hollywood’s platonic duo of the moment? Lady Gaga and Bradley Cooper.

Since the release of A Star Is Born in October 2018, the on-screen pair have hit one red carpet after the next, earning Golden Globe awards and Oscars nominations along the way. So before Lady Gaga arrived at the 2019 Grammys on Sunday-where their joint hit song “Shallow” is nominated across four categories-we were a little surprised to see photos of Cooper elsewhere pop up all over our Instagram feed.

Gaga is confirmed to hit the Grammys stage, and fans previously speculated that she could bring up Cooper to perform their duet, the most celebrated song off the A Star Is Born soundtrack. (They are expected to do so at the 2019 Oscars).) Unfortunately, fans were let down.

However, it wasn't because Cooper bailed on the big night. Instead, he was a tad tied up appearing across the pond to London for the BAFTA Awards, where he was nominated for Best Director and the film was also being considered for Best Film. So much love for A Star Is Bown, so little time. .

Gaga, meanwhile, received five total Grammy nominations for her portrayal of singer Ally in ASIB-winning big before the show even started. But considering A Star Is Born marks Cooper’s directorial debut, it makes sense he’d definitely want to be present at the BAFTAs for the announcement of the Best Director award.

Last week, Cooper made an appearance at Oprah’s SuperSoul Conversations From Times Square event, where he admitted he felt embarrassed for not getting the Best Director nomination at the Oscars. “I was embarrassed because I felt I hadn’t done my job,” he said. Oprah managed to get him to discuss the upcoming Oscars performance, and he could only express his excitement in one word: “terrified.”
