No one has demonstrated easygoing style more masterfully of late than Brad Pitt. You might remember when he was spotted while helping deliver groceries in L.A., rippin' a duke and rocking a plaid overshirt and dirty slip-on Vans. We loved the look; it was purely Brad, but it was also a fit we civilians can see ourselves assembling.
Pitt did it again Wednesday when he was spotted stepping out in Brussels draped in shades of blue and gray, mastering the art of near-monochrome-dressing and offering a few doses of style inspiration you can steal. First and foremost this a lesson in fit—Pitt's clothes hang off of him ever so slightly, but not to the point where he's swimming in them. It's a case for sizing up, and then bringing your clothes to your tailor to reign them in just a little bit. The goal is to land on that in-between sizes nirvana you can only achieve with a little professional help.
Aside from that, the color scheme Pitt's deploying here is toned-down yet unmissable. Where true navy and black turn the volume down all the way, these blue-gray shades—all slightly different, by the way—offer up a very strong argument for going almost-monochrome with a palate that isn't loud, but isn't silent either. They key is making sure it doesn't look like you're trying to match. The shades should be just different enough that it shows your pairing with purpose. No, you didn't get dressed in the dark!
Rounding out the fit are a necklace meant to be shown off (hence the considered un-doing of two buttons), a pair of shades in a classic shape, and Pitt's trusty slip-on Vans, which wouldn't be a bad item for every man, woman, and child to have in their rotation.
