Brad Pitt Wore the Same Outfit He Did 20 Years Ago—and It Still Looks Good

Just look to last night when Brad Pitt rolled up to the premiere of The Lost City Of Z wearing a crisp white button-up (undone at the neck, natch), a collared black bomber jacket, his signature newsboy cap, a pair of nice black dress shoes (no square toe), and a pair of low-rise, pleated, loose trousers which are just about the most on-trend thing a guy could wear in the first half of 2017. It's a look that looks maybe advanced now, but get ready to see it everywhere in the coming months. It's a voluminous sort of pant that people scoff at, but it just may change your life.
Brad, of course, looks positively sick here, but it's easy to miss that he just so happens to also be channeling a young Hollywood up-an-comer of yore with this killer fit. Who?, you may ask. That would be himself, but 20 years ago. A look through Pitt's early career heyday, when he was practically glued to an upstart Gwyneth Paltrow, and the similarity in style is downright eerie.
Take look at these two images of Pitt, from 1995 — 22 years ago, mind you — where he's rocking some very similar vibes, from the relaxed pants to the white shirt to the dark, minimalist-leaning outerwear. It's a lesson in finding what you like and sticking with it, making slight modifications as the years roll by, and also a reminder that everything old is, eventually, new again. Just a few years ago, Pitt would have likely been downright mortified to see these images of him swimming in those old threads, and now with Vetements and the like endorsing the new, louche, relaxed fit, it's the perfect look for right now.
Again, with these sorts of matters, it certainly helps to be as handsome and DGAF as Brad — not all 53 year olds could pull this off — but thee's only a few guys out there with the sort of longevity that means they can be their own inspiration. When you get to that level, you can consider yourself an icon.
