Brad Pitt thanked his friend Bradley Cooper for helping him get sober in a rare candid moment

The year 2020 is officially the year of Brads helping Brads. On Wednesday, January 8th, Brad Pitt accepted the award for Best Supporting Actor at the National Board of Review Annual Awards Gala from fellow actor and friend Bradley Cooper. Pitt, who won the award for his role in Once Upon A Time in Hollywood, candidly announced to his fellow gala attendees that he and Cooper share an important bond: Cooper helped Pitt get sober.

“Thank you, Bradley…I got sober because of this guy,” Pitt said when he reached the podium. “And every day’s been happier ever since. I love you, man. Thank you.”

He then made a hilarious dig about having to carry George Clooney out of the function. Candidness plus humor equals why we love Brad Pitt so much.

According to E! News, Pitt spent over a year in an Alcoholics Anonymous program after his split from Angelina Jolie in 2017. He later credited his alcoholism, among other mistakes, for making him a wiser individual post-addiction in a December 2019 sit down with actor Anthony Hopkins for Interview magazine.

And, as Pitt divulged at the National Board of Review gala, having friends like Bradley Cooper to support and guide you through such a process is pertinent to success.

We’re so here for this Brad-squared support group.
