The Boyz Reveal How Connected Each Member Is to Their Astrology Sign

Analyzing celebrities' astrological signs allows people to find ways to relate to them better without actually meeting them. In a pandemic-stricken world where we can't go to concerts and events, the zodiac also connects us to others, like The Boyz, for instance, no matter where in the world we are.

K-pop fans, in particular, want to know everything about their biases, down to the time they were born — mostly so they can look up their birth charts and delve into the unspoken intricacies of their favorite members.

The Boyz's Sunwoo finds this aspect of K-pop fandom endearing. "When you like someone and those feelings grow, it's just human nature to want to know more about them and want to know the details," he tells Allure. "We're actually very grateful because that means our fans want to know more about us."

Unfortunately for The Boyz fans (or The B, as they're officially called), Allure cannot enlighten you all with the members' rising signs. Most of them have no idea what time they were born, let alone their star signs. In Korea, people aren't into astrology as much as they are in America, according to Sangyeon. However, New corrects him, noting it's just the members who aren't as interested in it. Eric is an exception. His ankle is tattooed with the Capricon symbol because "I just love myself," he proclaims with a shrug.

Instead, The Boyz shared who they are in their own words with Allure via Zoom. The 11 guys have spent more than three years together since training together and debuting in 2017, as they've morphed from bubbly, floral-faced teens to mischievous, graphic liner-adorned men.

On a daily basis, Eric says the members learn more about themselves and each other. Each reveals their observations, as well as the songs they believe best suits them. I also interpreted how the members match up to their star signs. Maybe your birth chart (or your personality) aligns with your favorite members. (Note: I'm by no means a professional astrologer, but my best friends will tell you I am — call it my Scorpio intuition.)

Aries

Cre.ker Entertainment

Sunwoo, born April 12, 2000, is a fire sign through and through. Astrologer Aliza Kelly Faragher will tell you Aries typically are bold, ambitious, uncomplicated, and upbeat. Sunwoo unapologetically matches up.

When asked to define himself, Sunwoo pauses before stating, "self-confident" in English, as well as composed and sensitive in Korean.

New backs up the latter, saying, "If you listen to the lyrics he writes, they seem very emotional." At the same time, Sunwoo is completely unbothered when the group unanimously chooses him as the most unorganized. "I don't care," he states in English.

Sangyeon encapsulates Sunwoo in one word: swagger, which might as well be a synonym for Aries. For this same reason, Sunwoo claims he complements darker concepts best because he's a rapper.

Listen to: "Giddy Up," which is not only Sunwoo's favorite song but he also wrote lyrics for it.

Taurus

Introducing New
Introducing New

The Boyz's one and only Taurus is the ever so serene, focused, and resilient New (April 26, 1998). Although he didn't say a word, I remember the first time I met him back in August 2019 after KCON NY, he was super observant and attentive as I chatted with Kevin and Eric. During our Zoom interview, he's no different. The Boyz nominate him as the shyest and call him the biggest homebody. "If there's a social butterfly, New’s a cocoon," Kevin jests. "He can sleep for 18 hours."

In New's eyes, he sees himself as a happy, social, music-loving, people person. To Kevin, New is sensitive and bighearted.

In true Taurus fashion, New enjoys indulging in the finer things in his life with a "look good, feel better" attitude. Q says New is a perfectionist about his physical appearance, meticulously making sure his complexion and outfits on point. I don't need to know what time he was born because I'm convinced New's moon is in Libra because of this fact alone.

All of the members will tell you that New has the most extensive skin-care routine, too. "When he gets out of the shower, he's slapping creams all over his body," Kevin says. New also always has hand cream on him and layers up "good-smelling stuff," Jacob adds.

Another highlight of Tauruses is they seek stability and security. New does so by maintaining ample levels of supplies in the group's dorm. As the self-professed most organized member, "When I realize something is low in stock, I will replenish it," he explains.

Gemini

Inside the world of Jacob
Inside the world of Jacob
Cre.ker Entertainment

Entering the world on May 30, 1997, Jacob is astrologically a Gemini.

Faragher cites the sign as playful, intellectually curious, loquacious, hyperactive. Sure, Jacob could fit this description. Jacob isn't two-faced at all, either, a myth often associated with Geminis. What you see is what you get with Jacob.

He's more reserved, gracious, and gentle than anything. Jacob is incredibly patient as the other members whisper suggestions for words to describe him. (No wonder Hyunjae says Jacob is calm.) On his own volition, Jacob settles on soft-spoken, noting he's sensitive to the things around him and likes to smile.

Consider Jacob clean, too, says Q. Beyond the dorm he shares with the rest of the group, Jacob keeps his skin tidy with Lapothicell's The Mild Peeling Gel. (The Boyz are the faces of the K-beauty brand.)

Leo

A closer look at Younghoon
A closer look at Younghoon
Cre.ker Entertainment

The Boyz's star actor Younghoon (August 8, 1997) is the group's sole Leo. "Vivacious, theatrical, and passionate, Leos love to bask in the spotlight and celebrate themselves," Faragher says. They're also known for their stability, loyalty, courageousness, and consistency.

Younghoon's personal definition of himself isn't too far off: peaceful, smiley, and free (or liberated). "He's composed no matter what situation arises," Ju Haknyeon follows up. My additions include laidback and magnetic.

Despite seemingly being vibrant Leo, the other members are surprised when Younghoon raises his hand for preferring bright concepts, as seen with their songs "Bloom Bloom" and "DDD," over darker ones. Reason being: "When I'm on stage and smiling on camera, I think that’s when I look the best," he explains as everyone laughs.

Oh yeah, and in case you're also a Leo and wondering what hairstyle you should try in 2021, take cues from Younghoon. "I want to try a long hairstyle," he reveals in English. As for hair color, his favorite is ashy gray.

Virgo

Say hello to Hyunjae
Say hello to Hyunjae
Cre.ker Entertainment

Hyunjae's date of birth is September 13, 1997, making the 23-year-old a Virgo: logical, practical, and systematic. As type A as the sign stereotypically is, Hyunjae seems nothing of the sort. He's hilarious and creatively clever. He throws me through a loop when he chronicles himself in English as "past, present, future." (I later realize this response was a play on the fact that Hyunjae means “present” in Korean.)

Even when asked who the most outgoing member is, Hyunjae quips, "Eric has a motor in his mouth but Kevin has an engine in his butt." (Eric proudly translates and clarifies Kevin's part by saying he twerks too much.)

The group appoints Hyunjae as the least emotional. "I don't have many tears," he credits. Nothing gets past him either. When Sangyeon decides he's the shyest member, Hyunjae calls him out and speedily denies this.

Scorpio

Sangyeon (November 4, 1996) and Q (November 5, 1998), like me (November 6, 1991), are intuitive, ambitious, enticing Scorpios. They represent different facets of the sign: the loyal workaholic and the quirky individualist, respectively.

Shout out to Sangyeon
Shout out to Sangyeon
Cre.ker Entertainment

The former is clearly Sangyeon, who classifies himself as an efficient, musical person who "[thinks] being on time is really important." When Scorpios decide they want something, they passionately pursue it to the highest degree. (And they love being in control.) Sangyeon did just that, becoming the leader of a beloved K-pop group at just 21 years old. (Although he admits his other dream growing up was to “orbit space.” Let's be real, he still has time to do so.)

Scorpios are also often reflected in red and black, which seem to be the colors Sangyeon gravitates toward. When asked why he prefers the darker concepts of "Reveal" and "The Stealer," he simply says, "I like darker songs."

Q's cue
Q's cue
Cre.ker Entertainment

Q, on the other hand, illustrates himself as "happy, peaceful, and sensitive." Sunwoo tacks on "strange," which I appreciate. As a fellow Scorpio, I'd much rather be dubbed as such than normal.

Although he has a happy-go-lucky air to him, Q shares he's a perfectionist about his performances. His versatility fantastically fuels them, though. "No matter what he does, he fits bright concepts," Ju Haknyeon explains. "Every hair color he does looks good on him." I thoroughly agree with this sentiment. When I met Q, his hair was a stunning rose gold hue, which wonderfully suited him.

One major characteristic Sangyeon and Q have in common is they were coincidentally both named the most emotional members. Scorpio is a water sign, so we sure feel everything.

Listen to: Q suggests “36.5° (Melting Heart)."

Sangyeon is partial to "Get It."

Capricorn

According to my observations, Juyeon and Eric are contrasting kinds of Capricorns.

The Boyz's youngest, Los Angeles-raised member, Eric, was born on December 22, 2000, and definitely has fire placements in his birth chart, while Juyeon, who celebrates his birthday on January 15, 1998, channels Capricorn's distinct air elements, like tactfulness and reticence. I owe this to them being born in different months.

Enter: Eric
Enter: Eric
Cre.ker Entertainment

Both are incredibly optimistic and charismatic – just at different volumes. Eric is as exuberant and excitable as a Jack Russel puppy. He earns himself applause when he amends his list of personality traits (passionate, energetic, and potential) to "engerg-eric." With this excitement, New is overwhelmed when thinking about a word to portray Eric but decides "playful is perfect for Eric."

I notice Eric seems to have a sentimental side to him, though, when he shares he wants to try pink hair again. (His aura definitely is a vibrant shade of bubblegum.) "That's the hair color I had before my debut," he explains. "I want to show my fans how much I've grown since my pre-debut. Let them compare."

In true Capricorn fashion, Eric is also serious about his job. He's a perfectionist when it comes to keeping the dorm clean and nailing choreography.

Just Juyeon
Just Juyeon
Cre.ker Entertainment

Juyeon, on the other hand, carries himself with quieter confidence that I liken to GOT7's JB. He's more low-key and subtly flexes his English comprehension skills. Positive, humble, and patient are the words he picks for himself. Kevin confirms this, interjecting, "accurate." Eric builds onto the list with "caring."

He's later selected as the group's most adventurous member. "Even within Korean cuisine, Juyeon likes to explore and find the best 맛집 [the Korean word for best restaurant]," Kevin says "When we were touring, he has a lot of interest in whatever culture he is in."

Listen to: "The Stealer," per Juyeon's recommendation because his "sharp" face suits darker concepts as seen in the music video below.

Pisces

Kevin, who turned 22 on February 23, 1998, and Ju Haknyeon, 21 as of March 9, 1999, round out the zodiac signs as Pisces. Empathetic, compassionate, and imaginative, "Pisces effortlessly adapts to their surroundings," Faragher says. Kevin exemplifies this description to a T. He can start a conversation with anyone and make you feel like you've known him your entire life. He sums himself up as creative, open-minded, and devoted. "If I get into something, it takes a while for me to get out," he adds. Jacob has an addendum to Kevin's lineup, though: "abnormal in good ways — and bad," he says.

Keeping up with Kevin
Keeping up with Kevin
Cre.ker Entertainment

Eric claims he used to be the most outgoing member, but these days, Kevin takes the title. You'd imagine loving cheerful, happy vibes would come along with it. However, Kevin feels more confident during sexier, edgier performances. OK, now imagine him on stage for one with blonde hair. Why? Kevin wants to bleach his hair to match his golden in-ears, which may or may not be Beyoncé-inspired.

Ju Haknyeon's moment
Ju Haknyeon's moment
Cre.ker Entertainment

What about Ju Haknyeon? Well, he considers himself to be happy, honest, and sensitive to time. Not for a second does he overthink this self-assessment. He joyfully radiates these words, even when he isn't saying a word. Hyunjae even lovingly calls Ju Haknyeon his brother instead of picking an adjective to describe him. (Aww.)

According to the stars, Pisces is the zodiac's biggest dreamers. Naturally, New points to Ju Haknyeon's as The Boyz's. The fantasies that fill his head at the moment are extremely realistic for a Pisces: wanting to hear one of his songs while walking the streets of New York City and nabbing the No. 1 spot on the Billboard charts. I'm no clairvoyant, but these goals may just be written in the stars for The Boyz.
