THROUGH ITS FIRST three seasons, Prime Video's The Boys has been a treasure trove of (successful) satire. And with the exception of one particularly pointed recreation of an infamous commercial, it's been largely the world of superhero movies that's come into the show's crosshairs. Whether it's creating an evil, politically incorrect Captain America, lampooning the idea of surprise movie cameos, or just... well, the characters in general, The Boys has been on top of its game. And so where else is superhero satire to go, in 2023, than continuing to expand its universe?

That's where Gen V, the second spinoff series to take place in the greater The Boys universe (following last year's animated The Boys: Diabolical shorts) comes in. The show takes place between Season 3 and the forthcoming Season 4 of the main The Boys series, and fans of the show will be excited to discover that not only does Gen V contain the same sharp wit, compelling characters, and exciting action as its predecessor, but it totally crosses over into what is now a greater The Boys universe. The weight of everything that's happened in the first three seasons of the show is very much felt here.

Gen V is, essentially, like if Judd Apatow's underrated Undeclared show (look it up if you've never seen!) had fucked up superheroes and terrible corrupt corporations involved. It's a coming-of-age college story—following young Supes played by Jaz Sinclair, Lizze Broadway, Chance Perdomo, Patrick Schwarzenegger, and Maddie Phillips, among others—as they take on life at "Godolkin University." God U—get it?

Anyway, imagine that 22 Jump Street type of college story, mixed with all the superhero thriller/mystery/intrigue that we've come to expect from The Boys (with some familiar faces showing up along the way). And from basically the first moment of the first episode, you'll want to be along for the blood-soaked ride.

Here's how to make sure you don't miss a single episode of Gen V.
