Border Collie’s Reaction to Hearing the Family’s New Baby for the First Time Is Priceless

No matter how much parents prepare their pets for the arrival of their newborn, it still will come as a shock for their fur babies. It's an adjustment period for pets. One minute they're the center of attention and then the next they feel like they're second, right behind this new, tiny human.

But don't worry, your pet will get used to the new baby and all the noises that come with newborns. TikTok user @margotwood's dog realized very quickly that the newborn had more than new smells. Watch her priceless reaction when the baby makes a sound.

O.M.G. Stop, this is seriously so sweet! It was such a faint sound coming from the baby, but immediately the Border Collie looked up and thought, "What in the world?"  She was completely bamboozled. But we think it was a good shock. Soon enough they'll be besties!

It's always so important to slowly introduce your dog to a newborn. This can be started even a few days before bringing home the baby. Give your dog time to get used to the smell of the baby blanket or clothes. Then you can introduce them to the sounds and sight of the baby. After that, you can move to the next step of meeting in proximity. It would be best to keep your dog on a leash, giving him or her praise and dog treats for a job well done. Most dogs will adapt relatively quickly, but also take extra precautions throughout the whole process and even afterward. Never leave them unsupervised.

Even though every dog is different, there are some dog breeds that are known to be better with children than others. So if you're looking to add a dog to the family, consider these dog breeds that are best with kids - Bulldogs, Pugs, Beagles, Collies, Newfoundlands, Golden Retrievers, Irish Setters, Vizslas, and Labrador Retrievers.
