When to Book Your Spring Break Flights to Get the Best Travel Deal

If you plan to go away for spring break, we know when to book for the best deals.

For many, now's the time when they start planning a spring trip to somewhere warmer for some fun and sun. Planning a trip is hard and can cost a lot of money, but thankfully, Google Flights has a few useful tips on getting the best deal, including when to book.

Whether you are hoping to head to the beach or a far-off destination, based on trends, right now is the time to book.

Google Flights shared its data with Parade, and the sooner you book your flights to wherever you want to go, the lower the price.

Looking at data from 2018 to 2022, the lowest cost for domestic flights in March and April has been an average of 38 days ahead of time. When only looking at 2022 prices, the average prices were actually lowest even earlier, at 54 days before departure.

That means that you'll want to get serious about your vacation planning sooner rather than later.

Google also had some tips about when you will want to fly out, saying in a 2022 blog post that flights on Monday, Tuesday, and Wednesday ended up being 12 percent cheaper than weekend flights. If you just look at domestic flight trends, these days are actually 20 percent cheaper.

You're also likely to get a lower price if you are willing to stop and have a layover somewhere instead of a nonstop flight.

Also, although many people claim this is true, Google stated that there really isn't much difference depending on what day of the week you book the tickets, as prices have only been about 1.9 percent cheaper if booked during the week rather than the weekend over the past five years.

According to Google data, the top trending destinations for spring break this year are San Juan, Puerto Rico, in first place, New Orleans, Louisiana, in second, and Punta Cana, Dominican Republic, in third.

The rest of the locations, in order, are Montego Bay, Jamaica; Fort Myers, Florida; Rome, Italy; San José del Cabo, Mexico; Charleston, South Carolina; Key West, Florida; and Las Vegas, Nevada.
