Bon Jovi Shares How His Fitness Regimen Has Changed Over the Years

At 62, Jon Bon Jovi may not be running around on stages anymore, however, staying fit is still a crucial part of his lifestyle. But as he's gotten older and recovered from years of injuries he suffered throughout his career—such as shoulder and calf injuries, plantar fasciitis, and meniscus tears—the rocker has also had to make some major changes to his workout regimen.

Ahead of the release of his upcoming Hulu docuseries, Thank You, Goodnight: The Bon Jovi Story, Bon Jovi spoke with Men's Health about his changing fitness needs. After spending years dabbling with treatment modalities such as cryotherapy, chiropractors, and cortisone shots, what he's found to work best is to adapt his workouts to his injuries.

Whereas the "Livin' on a Prayer" singer used to rely on lifting heavy weights and running to stay in shape, he now prioritizes stretching and pliability with resistance bands. A good friend of Tom Brady's, Bon Jovi follows the star quarterback's TB12 program, and works out with his personal trainer Felicia five to six times a week, first thing in the morning. He hired Felicia, who also oversees his massage and acupuncture, after unsuccessfully trying to poach Brady's own trainer.

The regimen also helps Bon Jovi stay active doing other activities he loves, such as tennis. "If I could be on the seniors handicap division of professional tennis... that's my aspiration," he joked.

But in addition to his workouts, he has also had to make some adjustments to his diet, steering away from carbs and gluten in favor of lean proteins such as chicken, fish, and TB-12 protein shakes. Though, he still enjoys a cookie or glass of wine occasionally. "Everything in moderation including moderation," he told the publication.

Though Bon Jovi admits that he's not as young as he used to be, his diet and exercise plan gives him the motivation he needs to get to the gym every day. "Everything we do keeps me not only fit but feeling good," he added.

All four episodes of Thank You, Goodnight: The Bon Jovi Story drop on Hulu on April 26. You can watch the trailer below.
