Bodega and Saucony Bring Stonewashed Canvas and Hemp to Their ‘Crunchy’ Grid Shadow 2 Sneaker

Bodega and Saucony are teaming up for a Grid Shadow 2 collaboration that’s tailor made for the stoners.

The Boston-based boutique has gone all in on the lexicon of pot smokers in announcing the Grid Shadow 2 “Jaunt Woven,” which it describes as having a “dream blunt rotation” of stonewashed 18-ounce canvas, hemp and cotton. Bodega also calls out incense, ska, hacky sack circles, bloodshot eyes and microdosing — lest their be any lack of clarity on who this sneaker has been made for.

A crunchy variety of textures is paired with a mix earthy colors that include hemp in its natural off-white and pine green, as well as the stonewashed canvas taking on a faded brown appearance. A variety of crunchy textures is matched by a mix of lime green and bright red splashes also feature throughout, including a green-on-green speckled heel for the midsole. Bodega’s name is embroidered in the same bright green on the tongue and then printed onto the insole to match. Rounding out the drug rug for your feat, the “Jaunt Woven” features rope laces.

The biggest surprise for this collaboration is the fact that it’s dropping in late-February rather than April 20, i.e. 4/20, when many sneaker brands lean into the stoner holiday with special releases. Perhaps marijuana is just so mainstream now that a sneaker devoted to its culture can come at any time of the year.

The Bodega x Saucony Grid Shadow 2 “Jaunt Woven” will release Feb. 23 through the boutique’s website and Boston and Los Angeles stores. Pricing is set at $140.
