Bobby and his friends seek adoption from Beaver County Humane Society

(Dog of The Week is a feature of the Beaver County Humane Society striving to find forever homes for shelter dogs.)

Editor's Note: The Times learned after its deadline that Bobby was adopted and has a new forever home. He has plenty of friends still waiting for their lucky break at the Beaver County Humane Society shelter.

Good morning. My name is Bobby. I'm a neutered male, black and brown Beagle mix. The shelter staff think I am about 9 years old. I weigh 45 pounds. I've been at the shelter since Feb 23.

I am a sweet senior man looking for a forever home. It's hard to be the old dog in the shelter. I came here with my brother Louie, and we got along like two peas in a pod. Being with him helped ease the pain, but now I need to find a permanent home.

I am looking for a place that is quiet and laid back, and would prefer a family with teens and adults. I am currently in foster, so please call the shelter if you'd like to meet me.

This is what my sweet foster mama said about me:

"Bobby has been doing really well here. He adjusted after a few days and started getting on the couch and beds to be with us. He is a real sweetheart and prefers to be with us whenever possible.

"He loves going out in the fenced in yard and investigating. He has been playing with our old Airedale, Spencer, on occasions as well as cat toys. He likes car rides and walks. His behavior around people food indicates that he was given it before, but verbal corrections get his focus off of it.

"No food aggression. Doesn’t mind the cats unless they try to intimidate him, which he will bark to get them to back off (which they do). He will bark or snap if his front legs are manipulated (putting on harness).

"He has a giant personality in a small body but loves attention and being included in everything! He likes playing in the yard with our old Airedale, watching the neighborhood on the deck, playing with cat toys … Big time tail wagger!”

My foster mama said it all, and I just know I'd be the perfect companion for someone, or a great addition to a loving family. Even better, I am eligible for the Senior 2 Senior Adoption Program, which makes me affordable as well. Please come and see me today. It's time for me to finally go home.

Bobby hopes to get a new home.
