Bobbi’s Beauty Predictions for 2016
I love that each year brings a fresh take on beauty. New products, new colors, new techniques — the beauty world is always changing. After years of heavy, contoured makeup, I think we are ready for a big shift. Here’s what I see happening in beauty for 2016.
• 2016 is going to be all about health and beauty hybrids. It’s all about beauty from the inside. Look for nutrient-dense powders and foods designed to boost your health and give you beautiful skin and nails as well. There will be more vitamins designed to tackle issues like hair loss, all while helping your overall wellness too.
• After the trend of heavy, contoured makeup, I think we will see a big return to outdoorsy, fresh beauty. Makeup that gives you a natural glow, like gel bronzers, cream blush, lip stains, and sheer shadows, will be big. Makeup will go on clean skin or foundation that feels really light and looks invisible.
• Color will still be big, but it will be sheer. For eyes, iridescent shimmers and metallic shadows where skin shows through will add a subtle, pretty edge. For lips, sheer but bright colors like red and orange will be go-to shades.
• Skin will be glowy and less matte. Layering skin care will be the way to achieve that dewy, fresh look. Layering oils, serums, and moisturizers is the key, along with placing moisturizer over your foundation to make it look more natural.
• 2016 will bring new innovations like longer-lasting makeup — eyebrow gel that lasts 24 hours, false lashes that stay on for a few weeks, and hair color that doesn’t fade quite so quickly.
• I expect we will see a return to more natural-looking hair color. After years of rainbow hair, it will be about the color you are born with. I hope the unnatural gray hair goes out, especially on a young girl. It is aging and not especially flattering.
• Nails will still be short. I think buffing rather than polish is going to be really big, along with the overall trend toward looking groomed but low-maintenance.
