The PBS show Finding Your Roots hosted by Henry Louis Gates Jr. have led to numerous revelations about family ancestry—but tomorrow's episode is particularly of interest for us, as Bob Odenkirk learns he's related to the British royal family.

On his grandfather Walter Odenkirk's side, Gates tells Odenkirk that he is related to the Duke of Plön, and other royal families of Europe. "How does this make you feel?" Gates asks him. "Like I'm part of history," he replies.

"I'm an American. I'm not a monarchist. I don’t believe in, uh, that," Odenkirk continues. "You know, I feel like it's a little twisted. I understand why society built itself around monarchs and leaders, and they passed them down through generations. I understand that goes through every society, every civilization. But I think that we've gotten to a better place with democracy and we should keep going down that road."

After, Gates reveals Odenkirk is 11th cousins with King Charles III. Odenkirk bursts out laughing, and then says, "Well, maybe I'll change my mind on that," referring to his anti-monarchy feelings. Gates jokes, "There you be trashing your family, how they make a living... you ain't been royal more than five minutes!"

Watch here:

11th cousins means that Charles and Odenkirk are related 12 generations back (about 500 years ago)—basically making the two men extremely distantly related, so it's unlikely we'll see the actor at Sandringham for Christmas this year.
