Blue Eye Samurai

Blue Eye Samurai is proving to be a hit on Netflix, with the animated show hitting 2.9 million viewers in its first week of release.

The show features the voices of Kenneth Branagh, Maya Erskine, Masi Oka, and George Takei, and follows the story of a mixed-race swordsmaster who goes on a quest for revenge against the only four white men in Japan.

The adult series is ultra violent, and is being praised for its jaw-dropping fight scenes featuring flying limbs, teeth-as-bullets and bloody-spurting bodies.

“The whole thing is an incredible, utterly badass example of how animation can be used to create worlds, characters, and adventure every bit as vivid as live-action, if not more at times,” said critics at Rolling Stone.

Blue Eye Samurai has an 86 rating on Metacritic, and fans are falling over themselves asking for a second season.

“I binged this show like there was no tomorrow, same day of release. It's truly epic! Eagerly awaiting news on a S2,” said one fan on YouTube, where the first episode was shown ahead of all 8 chapters releasing in full on Netflix.

Blue Eye Samurai was written by Amber Noizumi and Michael Green, known for his work on the scripts for Logan, Bladerunner 2049 and Alien: Covenant.
