Season one of Blue Eye Samurai only hit Netflix last month, but it was a hit.

It spent two weeks in the global top ten, amassing 4.8 million viewers, receiving critical acclaim, scoring a 100% on Rotten Tomatoes.

Audiences loved it, too, rating it 96%, and it even found itself at #73 on the Top Rated TV list on IMDb.

Netflix has now announced that Blue Eye Samurai will return for season two in a thrilling thirty-second teaser.

The animated TV-MA series from Blue Spirit is set in Edo-period Japan and follows Mizu, a mixed-race master of the sword who lives a life in disguise, seeking the deliverance of revenge.

Blue Eye Samurai was created by creative and real-life partners Amber Noizumi and Michael Green, who also serve as executive producers on the eight-episode series. Green said, "When people have asked us about what the show is going to look like, we couldn't compare it to anything else because nothing like this has been done before."

Members of the voice cast include Maya Erskine, George Takei, Masi Oka, Randall Park, Cary-Hiroyuki Tagawa, Brenda Song, Darren Barnet and Kenneth Branagh.

Further information on when it will return is still to be confirmed.
