Blind Iguana Who Recognizes His Owner by Smell Is Giving Everyone the Feels

When you think about highly affectionate pets that love their owners and respond to their voice, scent and touch, cats and dogs are probably the first animals that come to mind. Well, you may want to add iguana to that list after watching a beautiful video posted October 13 of blind Iguana Tam responding to his loving owner.

This video is just too sweet.

The video, posted by the TikTok account for @dragon.and.me, explains that even though Tam is blind he recognizes his owner by scent and the sound of his voice.

Iguanas are generally independent animals, but as you can see above with Tam, they are capable of forming strong bonds with their owners and they can become accustomed to, and look forward to, the presence of their primary caregivers.

TikTok users love this gorgeous dragon and @Ann comments, "The way he reaches his little hands out to you. So much love and trust." @Katie adds, "He's beautiful and clearly knows he's loved." @Emily replies, "This is too sweet for my heart to handle. What an amazing human and such a gorgeous reptile."

Providing a safe and stable environment with consistent care, proper nutrition, and appropriate temperature and humidity conditions can help an iguana feel secure and well cared for. Approaching them calmly and gently, providing their favorite foods (like strawberries and live crickets) can help an iguana live a long, happy life.
