BAKERSFIELD, Calif. (KGET) — It’s Mother’s Day weekend and the Blessing Corner Ministries is hosting events this weekend to bring families and the community together.

The Blessing Corner Ministries’ Executive Director Bonnie Turner says Mother’s Day in Kern is extremely special because the ministry serves a lot of single parents.

The perfect Mother’s Day brunch

“Mothers seem like they just have that eagle-wing that spreads around the children to kind of keep them in place. We want to celebrate them for all of their efforts and to just have them feeling special with all the goody bags that we are going to be giving them,” Turner said.

Sue England, the Blessing Corner Ministries Board Member, and Turner say a new program began last week that aims to cater to Kern’s 170,000 senior population.
