Blake Shelton sent a sweet and hilarious congratulatory message to Niall Horan after his mentee Gina Miles won season 23 of The Voice.

The former One Direction member recently appeared on the Today Show, where Carson Daly relayed a message from the country singer. "Hey Niall, it's your old hero Blake Shelton here. I just wanted to say good luck today on your Today Show performance. I miss you, buddy," said the former Voice coach.

"And uh…now that it's over with, I can finally tell you that I wrote it into the script that you were gonna win The Voice this season," Shelton joked, making Horan crack up.

Shelton ended his message on a sweet note, saying, "Congrats, buddy. Good luck on the tour. Good luck with all the new music. I'll see you down in LA."

After the video played, Hoda Kotb remarked to Horan, "Wow, look at you!" Horan responded, "Good ol' pops, ah? When I won The Voice, the only thing he said to me was, 'I taught you everything you know.'"

Shelton was the coach with the most wins until deciding to leave the show after its 23rd season. He first announced his decision in an Instagram post in October 2022, and shared his reason for exiting with Access Hollywood.

"I think being a stepdad has changed my perspective in that I’m not the first person that I think about anymore. Even to the small little things when you go, ‘I think I’ll do this,’ the very next thought is always, ‘Well, wait a minute. How’s that going work?' Or, 'What will they think?' Or, 'How will that affect a schedule?'" he said.
