Blake Shelton has made it very clear that he wants his former Voice rival and Maroon 5 frontman Adam Levine to perform at his and Gwen Stefani's tentative wedding this summer. But how does Adam feel about it? Well, he had a rather hilarious response when recently asked about Blake's request on SiriusXM’s “The Morning Mash Up.”

“They can’t afford me,” Adam, who is friends in real life with the couple, jokingly said. Adam then got real and explained that while he “would love” to perform at Gwen and Blake's big day, the couple hadn’t genuinely asked him to do so.

“They won’t ask me, though. They’ll probably get like Luke Bryan or somebody,” Adam lightheartedly said on the radio show.

While Adam may have not received a formal request from Blake and Gwen, the “Honey Bee” singer announced to the world last December on Late Night with Seth Meyers that Adam was playing for them no matter what.

“I’ve kind of decided that I’ve been doing this a long time now and I’ve got a lot of favors out there,” Blake said. “He may not like it, but Adam Levine’s gonna have to get the band together and come and play our wedding.”

Apparently, Adam was watching Seth on TV when Blake made such a bold claim.

“They’re talking about marriage and he’s like, ‘Yeah, I’m gonna get Adam Levine to come play, he doesn’t know it yet,’ and I’m like sitting in bed eating popcorn and I’m like, ‘Man, f--k you, I’m not gonna play at your wedding.’”

And so, the playful banter between Adam and Blake continues. Even though Adam left The Voice after 16 seasons in 2019, it looks like things haven’t changed one bit. So, will Adam end up performing for Blake and Gwen? That remains to be seen, but we’re sure at the very least he’ll score an invite.
