As the coronavirus pandemic continues to affect people around the world, celebrities are doing what they can to help their fans remain positive. Some have donated millions of dollars to relief organizations, others are delivering free groceries to the elderly, and many have been live-streaming free concerts from their homes.

Blake Shelton, however, is taking a different approach.

After the country singer was forced to cancel the final five stops on his Friends & Heroes 2020 Tour, he took to Twitter to offer his fans an unexpected "symbol of hope."

"I have an announcement. With basically EVERYTHING I had scheduled being canceled for the foreseeable further @gwenstefani and I have made a decision together," he wrote. "I am growing my mullet back as a symbol of hope or some s*** like that.. Anyway it’s coming back! For real. Stay tuned..."

Yup, you read that right. Blake is bringing back the hairstyle he abandoned (perhaps for good reason) over a decade ago—and Gwen Stefani approves.

This is obviously going to take a while, because Rome wasn't built in a day and mullets don't grow overnight. In the meantime, we tracked down a throwback photo of Blake and his long locks to give you something to look forward to.

Although the 43-year-old has previously admitted that he looks "stupid" with a mullet, he seems committed to starting a party in the back. This isn't the symbol of hope we asked for during such a difficult time—but it's the one we're getting. 😂
