  • Blake Shelton and Gwen Stefani announced their engagement on Oct. 27.

  • They reportedly do not want a big wedding and it will likely be a “family affair.”

  • The couple is considering marrying “during COVID, if need be.”

Since announcing their engagement on Oct. 27, Blake Shelton and Gwen Stefani haven’t shared plans for a ceremony. However, a source recently told People that “neither want a big wedding,” especially if they end up tying the knot during the pandemic. The source added that the nuptials will likely take place in front of a small family circle, sooner rather than later.

The couple kept the big news private for a few days before telling the world in an Instagram photo taken inside a chapel Shelton built for Stefani on his Oklahoma ranch, per Hollywood Life. “Hey @gwenstefani thanks for saving my 2020... And the rest of my life.. I love you. I heard a YES!” Shelton captioned his post. Stefani shared the same pic, writing, “@blakeshelton yes please! 💍🙏🏻”

“He felt it would be really special to propose there,” a source told Hollywood Life, referring to the chapel. “He built [it] for Gwen because she is a very devout Catholic and he wanted to make her feel comfortable with her transition from L.A. to Oklahoma.”

The publication reaffirmed People’s report that the pair is considering marrying “during COVID, if need be.” If they do end up waiting until it’s safe to have a bigger celebration, it will be a “family affair” regardless, with the involvement of Stafani’s sons, Kingston, 14, Zuma, 12, and Apollo, 6. Shelton has become an influential figure in their lives in his five years with Stefani, and reportedly asked for their permission before proposing.

“Blake told her boys that he wanted to propose and asked their permission,” People’s source revealed. “Her family very much approves of him. He’s an amazing partner and a great extra dad to the boys.” Stefani even gave the country star a shoutout on Father’s Day, writing on Instagram, “Thank u for helping me raise these boys!”

The two musicians found each other on The Voice after navigating heartbreaking divorces, which made their union feel meant to be. “I think both of us know that the timing and the way that she and I met and it came together and just felt like home—that’s not an accident,” Shelton told Entertainment Tonight in December 2019. “It was evidence to us that God had a hand in it.”

People’s source revealed that “Gwen is ecstatic” to be engaged: “Blake gives Gwen so many things that were missing from her life for years. She loves sharing her life with him.”
