The friends that wear traveling denim jeans together, stay together.
Last Friday, per US Weekly, Blake Lively, 36, reunited with her The Sisterhood of the Traveling Pants co-stars Alexis Bledel, America Ferrera and Amber Tamblyn at a special screening for Barbie in NYC. FYI, the former cast members came together to support their dear friend (aka “denim sister”) Ferrera, who plays Gloria in the box office hit.
The Gossip Girl alum posted photos of their IRL reunion on her IG account yesterday. The first image in the slideshow features a candid pic of the four castmates smiling and sitting on a couch.
Meanwhile, the third snap shows the actresses posing for a group picture together while donning Barbie-themed pink and white outfits.
Lively dedicated a sweet message to Ferrera in the caption, which reads, “Some weeks are for the man in your life. Some weeks are for the women…I was so happy to celebrate my denim sister @americaferrera She’s the heart and soul of @barbiethemovie because she’s the heart and soul of everything she’s a part of. I’ve known her for 20 years. Since I was 16. I’ve watched her live, grow, soar, fall, make, break, push, fight, win, create, forge, disrupt, way make, lead, lead, lead.”
She continued, “That speech she gives as Gloria felt as close to real as anything I’ve ever seen on screen. Because that’s who she is. She’s that spectacular, passionate, inspiring, and full of heart in her own life. I can’t wait to watch her sweep awards up across her living room floor. No one deserves it more… for a lifetime of brilliant work. It’s one of my life’s honors to witness her show so many women not only what’s possible, but HOW it’s done. I love you, sister. Always.”
Lively ends the special note by saying, “Pants = Love. Love your sisters. Love yourself.”
Based on the 2001 novel of the same name, The Sisterhood of the Traveling Pants follows four best friends who buy a pair of denim jeans that fit each of them perfectly, despite having different body types. As they prepare to spend their first summer apart, the girls pass around the pair of pants, hoping to keep their close-knit bond.
The 2005 film also spawned a sequel, titled The Sisterhood of the Traveling Pants 2, which was released in 2008. A third movie was pitched back in 2018 and currently remains in production.
