Blake Lively has a bowl cut for her new movie, and even her sister didn’t recognize her

We’ve been pinning photos of Blake Lively‘s long, shiny locks to our #hairgoals boards since 2005 (when The Sisterhood of the Traveling Pants first came out). One of our writers even curated her hair routine to achieve Lively’s signature loose waves. But the queen of luscious, beachy waves as we know her has temporarily stepped down from her throne—and she’s nearly unrecognizable, according to her sister.

Lively posted a photo of herself with a very off-brand shaggy bowl cut with the caption, “Facetune broke.”

Even her sister, Robyn Lively, was shocked by the transformation, commenting, “UN-recognizable!” But don’t worry, devoted Blake Lively hair fans, this ‘do is almost definitely just temporary.

In the caption, Lively explained that both looks (the one she’s wearing and the more un-done version in the picture of herself she’s holding) are for her upcoming movie The Rhythm Section. In the film, out January 31st, Lively plays a woman who is on a vengeful quest after her family dies in an intentional plane crash. And considering the context, Lively’s perfectly done, shiny hair probably wouldn’t have been the right look.

It looks like Lively will be sporting a few more hair looks for the film, like the long red waves with pin-up bangs she shared in another post. Naturally, she looks great with every ‘do, but this one is a bit less of a shock to the system.

We’re excited to see Lively’s performance in The Rhythm Section, and we’ll keep our eyes peeled for more hair looks in the meantime.
