BLACKPINK Shuts Down The Stage in Debut MTV Video Music Awards Performance

Congrats are in order for BLACKPINK. The 2022 MTV Video Music Awards were a big night for the K-pop superstars. Jisoo, Lisa, Rosé, and Jennie made their US award show debut, won two moon people, and shut down the stage with the performance of their new single, "Pink Venom." BLACKPINK also made history as the first female K-pop group to perform in VMA history.

Rocking all-black ensembles with soft pink accents, BLACKPINK put their effortless choreography on full display as they proved just how fierce "that pink venom" really is.

Prior to hitting the stage, BLACKPINK was awarded the Best Metaverse Performance award at the VMA pre-show. They also won the moon person for Best Group.

"Pink Venom" is the lead single from BLACKPINK's forthcoming Born Pink album, and it's proven to be a massive success. It currently reigns as Spotify's most-streamed song by a female artist in a single day in 2022 following its release. "Pink Venom" broke records on YouTube, too. The official music video earned the biggest 24-hour music video debut record in 2022 and the third-largest 24-hour debut of all time with 90.4 million views.

The group's second studio album will be released on September 16, and will be available in a physical digipack that will feature a CD, booklet, random selfie photocard, accordion lyrics paper, and one folded poster.

BLACKPINK will celebrate its new project with a world tour. YG Entertainment announced Jisoo, Lisa, Rosé, and Jennie would be embarking on the "largest world tour" in the history of a K-pop girl group. Details about BLACKPINK's new tour have yet to be officially announced, but we can bet that more news will come forward as we get closer to the release of Born Pink.
