BLACKPINK, Jackson Wang, and More Star in Adidas’s Latest Campaign

Eagle-eyed viewers of the 2020 Grammy Awards may have noticed some familiar faces during an Adidas Superstar sneaker ad and that’s because the girls of BLACKPINK star in the sportswear giant’s latest campaign.

While we desperately await their comeback, Adidas selected the group as one of many representatives for their latest “Change Is a Team Sport” campaign, which the brand said in a press release “[celebrates] five decades of culture makers, boundary pushers, and limit breakers.”

As the first female K-pop group to perform at Coachella and the most followed girl group on Spotify, pushing boundaries and breaking limits is second nature to BLACKPINK, making them a fitting addition to this campaign.

The campaign premiered during the Grammy Awards on January 26 with a star-studded short film directed by Jonah Hill. The film follows young skateboarder Jenn Sotto as she journeys through her school, encountering plenty of her Adidas teammates along the way.

If you watch carefully, you’ll see GOT7’s Jackson Wang hanging out alongside other international superstars like Pharrell Williams, Anitta, Yara Shahidi and many, many others.

According to Torben Schumacher, general manager for Adidas Originals, the campaign “celebrates the idea that when creators join together, we can drive and inspire change." Adidas claims this will be part of a larger effort throughout 2020 to “use the power of teamwork to create and inspire positive change in local communities across the globe.”

With so many K-pop fans around the world, the inclusion of Jackson, Jisoo, Jennie, Rosé, and Lisa might just be the perfect vehicle to foster this change. Superstars indeed!
