Ahead, find everything you need to know about everyone's favorite K-pop girl group, BLACKPINK.

BLACKPINK will release their second studio album in September

After nearly two years, BLACKPINK is back with new music. The group's sophomore album Born Pink is set to be released on September 16.

The group will perform their new single "Pink Venom" at the 2022 MTV Video Music Awards, where they are nominated for Best Group and Best Metaverse Performance.

They have broken a bunch of records on YouTube and beyond

BLACKPINK is slated to make history when they embark on the "largest world tour in the history of a K-pop girl group." Billboard obtained YG's statement announcing that the group will embark on "a continuous large scale-project which will extend through the second half of the year."

In May 2022, the K-Pop superstars made history as the first Asian girl group to grace the cover of Rolling Stone. The collab was so highly anticipated that Rolling Stone created a Collector's Edition Box Set where each member of the girl had their very own solo cover of the magazine that featured an individual interview and a 44-page "zine" that featured a group cover and corresponding cover story.

According to the Guinness Book of World Records, BLACKPINK's video for "How You Like That" got 86.3 million views on its first day on YouTube. It currently held the record for:

  • Most viewed YouTube video in 24 hours

  • Most viewed music video on YouTube in 24 hours

  • Most viewed YouTube music video in 24 hours by a K-pop group

The group's solo projects are equally epic.

In April 2021, Rosé became the first artist to reach number one on a Billboard Global chart as a soloist and as part of a group with the release of her single, "On The Ground."

The music video was released on the same day and became the most viewed YouTube music video in 24 hours by a solo K-pop artist after bringing in 41.6 million views.

Later on that October, Lisa released her debut single, "LaLisa," which became the most viewed YouTube music video by a solo artist in 24 hours, with 73.6 million views.

Each group member has their own partnerships with other brands

Each BLACKPINK member has served as an ambassador for luxury fashion houses. Jisoo, Lisa, and Rosé inked partnerships with LVMH brands Dior, CELINE, and Saint Laurent, respectively, while Jennie serves as an ambassador for Chanel. This only scratches the surface of their collaborations.

Not only is Jisoo an ambassador for Dior Beauty, but she also attended Dior's runway show at Paris Fashion Week in 2022. She also serves as a brand ambassador for luxury jeweler Cartier. Rosé became a global ambassador for Tiffany & Co. in 2021. Jennie launched a collaboration with South Korean Luxury eyewear brand Gentle Monster in 2020 and followed up with a second launch in 2022. Lisa also serves as an ambassador for jewelry brand Bulgari and MAC Cosmetics, where she dropped a collection that featured a 12-color eyeshadow palette, eyeliner, blush, and six liquid lip colors.

As a group, they were global ambassadors for Kia Motors and launched a viral dance challenge during their partnership with PUBG Mobile.

The music video for their single "Kill This Love" performed well on YouTube, too.

According to Billboard, as of April, the "Kill This Love" music video became the most watched video in its first 24 hours in YouTube history by earning 56.7 million views, beating out Ariana Grande's "Thank U, Next" music video debut. In three days, it also became the fastest music video to hit 100 million views on Youtube.

Their single "DDU-DU DDU-DU" has also broken a ton of records as well.

According to Billboard, it's the highest-charting Billboard Hot 100 song by a female K-pop group everrrr. It opened at number 55 in June 2018. They also debuted at number one on Billboard's Emerging Artists chart.

They made a fierce American debut.

The girls' February 2019 American debut included performances at the 2019 Grammy Artist Showcase, The Late Show With Stephen Colbert, Good Morning America, Strahan and Sara, and The Late Late Show With James Corden. They also covered Billboard Magazine's March 2019 issue, becoming the first K-pop girl group to land the cover.

Their name actually has a pretty cool meaning.

In June 2016, their representative at YG Entertainment said their name is anything but random. "The meaning of Black Pink aims to contradict the common perception of the color pink. Pink is commonly used to portray prettiness, but Black Pink actually means to say that 'Pretty isn't everything.' It also symbolizes that they are a team that encompasses not only beauty but also great talent," they said. So not only are they trying to become your new music obsession, but they're challenging stereotypes, too.

Their fan base are called Blinks.

According to Fandom, the girls in the group came up with the name themselves. It's simply a mashup of the two words, "black" and "pink".

Back home in South Korea, they had their own TV show.

The reality show, called BLACKPINK House, aired in early 2018. It followed the girls' everyday lives as they lived in the same house. The 12-episode show showcased more of the girls' personalities and added to the recognition they have now.

Harry Styles seems to be a Blink.

He was hanging in the VIP section at one of their concerts in L.A., according to People. That's not the only thing that made Twitter go crazy, though. Apparently, Drake also followed them on Instagram, and Twitter fans started freaking out.

It seems Blackpink's quest for global domination is just getting started.
