  • Black Widow has been pulled from the Disney/Marvel schedule due to coronavirus concerns.

  • It had been planned for a May 1 release.

  • It follows the steps of movies like Fast 9 and No Time To Die. No new release date has been announced.

The period between Spider-Man: Far From Home and Black Widow was already going to be the longest gap between Marvel Cinematic Universe premieres in years, and now the inevitable news has hit: it's going to be even longer. According to Variety, Disney has pulled Black Widow from the schedule amidst coronavirus fears, following suit with other movies like No Time To Die and Fast 9. The movie had been scheduled for a May 1 release.

Disney had previously delayed other movies on its schedule, including the live-action Mulan remake, but had been hoping to not have to pull Black Widow. But with movie theaters in states including New York, New Jersey, and Pennsylvania being forced to close, along with the film's reliance on success internationally to turn a profit, the studio's hand was forced. AMC Theaters estimates that their locations could be closed from 6-12 weeks, but no one really knows at this point.

At the same time as Black Widow, Disney also pulled The Personal History of David Copperfield (starring Dev Patel and scheduled for a May 8 release) and The Woman in the Window (Starring Amy Adams and scheduled for an April 15 release) from the schedule. Both movies were produced by studios underneath the Disney umbrella.
