'Black Panther' Trends as Twitter Reacts to Marvel's Sequel Film

Marvel Studios' highly-anticipated Black Panther sequel film opened in theaters on Nov. 11, and fans had no shortage of feedback in response to the superhero saga.
After the untimely death of Chadwick Boseman—the actor who masterfully portrayed T'Challa in 2018's iconic film—Marvel enthusiasts wondered how the story would unfold without him in a second installment.
In the first few days since its release, social media users took to Twitter to celebrate writer Ryan Coogler's character development and captivating plot, expressing a wide range of emotions on the movie.
One supporter shared thoughts touching on relevant widespread issues tackled in the film. "Love that Coogler's two Black Panther films are deeply personal works about how the very existence of Colonial Powers and the generational trauma incurred from their horrific ideologies put people of color in difficult, impossible situations wherein it's brother against brother," they wrote.
Another user called Shuri's accession to Black Panther "brilliant," commenting on actress Letitia Wright's character's progression, while a third saw similarities between Black Panther and Dragon Ball Z.
Several fans applauded the film's casting, praising the actors for their "top tier" performances.
One social media user supported the "beautiful and heartfelt" tribute to the late Chadwick and his character, T'Challa. "The movie is an emotional journey through grief for the characters, cast, the film makers and the fans," they expressed, adding, "It's by far the most deep and meaningful MCU movie to date. #WakandaForever"
Another Twitter user joked about people leaving the theater before the credits ended, writing: "Y'all getting up to leave during the credits of Black Panther 2, tells me how uncultured y'all are and you're new here," followed by a laughing emoji.
The film was not only recognized and enjoyed by many, but also saw an impressive opening weekend in ticket sales.
Black Panther: Wakanda Forever stormed the domestic box office with a whopping $108 million debut—the second highest of the year and the largest ever for the month of November—beating out 2013's The Hunger Games: Catching Fire. Overall, it brought in $330 million globally from its opening weekend alone.
