Unless you're having Siri read this article aloud to you, I'm sorry to say that you are in danger of succumbing to the Bird Box monster. If you remember Netflix's hit film that everyone was watching over Christmas break back in 2018, it revolved around a post-apocalyptic earth in which monsters caused anyone who looked at them to commit suicide. In the film, Sandra Bullock plays a mother trying to guide her children to safety while they all wear blindfolds.
The film spawned many a meme and of course the #BirdBoxChallenge where regular humans not beset upon by evil aliens wandered around in blindfolds, often injuring themselves in the process. Now five years later, Netflix is releasing a second Bird Box film, which hopefully will not result in any more blindfolded people tripping over curbs. Is Bird Box Barcelona a sequel to Bird Box?
No, Bird Box Barcelona is not a sequel, but rather a spinoff. Whereas the original film was set in the U.S., this spinoff will take place during the same time period across the Atlantic in Barcelona, Spain (or "Barthelona" as your college roommate returning from a study abroad trip called it).
What is Bird Box Barcelona about?
We don't have a ton of details on the plot yet, but Netflix writes, "After a mysterious force decimates the world’s population, Sebastian must navigate his own survival journey through the desolate streets of Barcelona. As he forms uneasy alliances with other survivors and they try to escape the city, an unexpected and even more sinister threat grows." So basically, it will be Bird Box set in Spain with plenty more gruesome deaths.
Who is in the Bird Box Barcelona cast?
The Bird Box Barcelona cast is completely new and comprised of mostly Spanish-speaking actors who aren't well known in the U.S. Perhaps the biggest name is Diego Calva, who recently starred in Babylon. The full cast includes Mario Casas, Georgina Campbell, Alejandra Howard, Naila Schuberth, Diego Calva, Patrick Criado, Lola Dueñas, Gonzalo De Castro, Michelle Jenner and Leonardo Sbaraglia.

Is Sandra Bullock in the new Bird Box Barcelona?
Unless it's in a brief cameo, Sandra Bullock will not be in Bird Box Barcelona, because the film is set at the same time as Bird Box, her character would presumably be on the wrong continent.
