Marking your child’s height on their bedroom door frame is one way to see how much (and how quickly!) they grow. But if you live in an actual zoo, you might do things a little differently. Bindi Irwin shared the super cute way she’s been documenting her daughter Grace’s growth over the years, and it’s such an Irwin thing to do.

Growing Up

“November 2021 vs. January 2024 🐊,” the Australia Zoo conservationist captioned a post on Instagram. “I love watching our beautiful girl grow up at #AustraliaZoo.”

Grace was just 8 months old when the first photo was taken. She’s wearing a pretty pink floral romper with matching bow as she sits inside the mouth of a crocodile! OK, OK, it’s a crocodile statue, so she is perfectly safe as she sits in his wide-open jaw and grabs one of his huge pointy teeth with her little fist. She has the biggest smile on her face, clearly totally comfortable with a croc just like her grandfather, the Crocodile Hunter.

Fast forward to now, as Grace is about to turn 3. She sits in the same crocodile mouth statue, but this time she hardly fits! The adorable toddler is wearing a white t-shirt under blue floral overalls and white tennis shoes as she sits in the mouth of the crocodile, happy as ever. Both hands are holding onto the crocodile’s bottom teeth, and her legs and feet stick totally out of the crocodile’s mouth. It’s wild to see how much she’s grown, and we absolutely love that a crocodile is the method of measurement!

So Much Love

Bindi’s mom Terri Irwin commented on the post, “Grace is so tall and terrific! I love her so much.❤️”

“Wow so adorable 🥰 your babies grow up way to quickly. Treasure every special moment xx,” someone else wrote.

Legacy of the Crocodile Hunter

The Irwin family, which includes Bindi’s husband Chandler Powell and Bindi’s brother Robert Irwin, have lovingly carried on Steve’s legacy since he tragically died in 2006. None of them are afraid of crocodiles, often still hosting public crocodile feedings at the zoo for Wildlife Warriors.

Grace seems to have inherited that fearless gene, like when she confidently followed a wombat down a path in Tasmania with her parents following behind. Or when she requested her mom read her a book —from up in a tree! Who knows? Maybe one day she’ll do a croc feeding, too!

Blessed Mama

For now, though, Bindi is just enjoying her little girl as much as she can. In an interview with PEOPLE in Aug. 2023, Bindi opened up about how “lucky” she was to get pregnant with Grace, since she had undiagnosed endometriosis at the time. “For us personally, we feel so lucky to have Grace,” she said. “I think that every day I wake up and I look at our beautiful daughter and think she is our tiny little miracle and it makes me cry because we were very, very lucky to have her.”
