Billie Eilish is using her platform to encourage fans to vote. The “bad guy” singer is partnering with HeadCount, a non-profit organization that promotes voter registration and participation, to send her fans to the polls for the 2022 midterm elections.

“I’m working with HeadCount to encourage everyone to show up at the polls and use their voice during these midterm elections,” said Billie in a statement. “With what is going on in our country, we need to get out to the polls and vote for what we believe in. Not showing up is not an option.”

Billie is setting up some pretty cool incentives for her fans to check their voter registration status using HeadCount, too. One winner will be sent on a VIP trip to see Billie perform in Australia and New Zealand — the lucky fan will receive concert tickets for themselves and a friend, along with flights, hotel, and exclusive merchandise signed by Billie. If you want an opportunity to win big, all you have to do is visit HeadCount.org/Billie to check your voter registration status or text BILLIE to 57568.

HeadCount co-founder and executive director Andy Bernstein said, “Billie has been a voting advocate and supporter of HeadCount since before she could even vote herself. By hosting some lucky fans on the trip of a lifetime, together we hope to motivate thousands of young people to check their voter registration status or register to vote.” A voting advocate indeed — Billie and her brother Finneas got to visit the White House and pay a visit to President Biden, who took to social media to say, "Great to see you and your family — and I’m glad you got to meet Commander."

Need a refresher on midterm elections and why they’re important?

Members of the House of Representatives are elected for two-year terms, so midterm elections that happen halfway through a president’s four-year term could dramatically affect the makeup of the House and the Senate. Rock the Vote puts it simply, saying, “Young voters are particularly likely to vote in presidential years but not turn out for midterm elections, which is why it’s so important that we show up – decisions are being made about our future without us.”

Billie spoke out against Donald Trump in 2020, saying in a video she shared, “There just comes a certain point where you can’t ignore it and you can’t be silent. Especially having the platform that I have, I don’t want to waste that. So I think it’s really important that we all talk and speak up, even if we’d rather die.”

You heard Billie — it’s time to get out there and vote!
