Billie Eilish Just Made Grammys History, and She's Only 18

Billie Eilish is more than just the "bad guy." She's also a Grammys trailblazer.

Eilish made history as she became the youngest Grammy winner in all four main categories at the 2020 Grammy Awards, taking home five of her six nominations. The 18-year-old bagged Song of the Year, Best Pop Vocal Album, Record of the Year, Best New Artist, and Song of the Year.

These wins were more than just an exciting night for the pop star. They made Eilish the youngest person to in history to be nominated for and win awards in all four general-field categories during the same time period. These include Best New Artist, Song of the Year, Record of the Year, and Album of the Year.

Eilish was especially appreciative of the honors when she first took the stage to accept one of her several awards, becoming increasingly flustered as the wins came one after another.

"I never thought this would happen in my whole life. I feel like I jump around at these things and I never take anything seriously, but I genuinely want to say that I'm so grateful and I'm honored to be here," she said during her win for Song of the Year, while brother Finneas stated that the pair "make music in [their] bedroom together."

As she continued heading up to the main Grammys stage to accept additional honors, Eilish thanked her fans, noting that she loves "all fandoms" in a show of appreciation for those who listen to her music. But when it was time for her to make a speech for her Album of the Year win, she demurred, conceding her time, so as not to "waste" it in a humble show of appreciation.

"I'm not going to waste your time, I'm really not. I love you. Thank you for this."

Previously, the youngest recipients for Record of the Year were Sam Smith and Kimbra, while Taylor Swift had been the youngest winner in Grammy history at 20 when she won the Album of the Year award for Fearless in 2010. In comparison, Eilish was the youngest winner to nab the Song of the Year Grammy following Lorde, who received the award at just 17 in 2013 for co-writing credit on "Royals."

It looks like the sky's the limit for Eilish, as she's already accomplished so much. It'll be interesting to see what the next year brings.
