Billie Eilish is putting the haters in their place. Over the weekend, the Grammy Award-winning artist took to Instagram to pen a “letter to some comments” she’s received over her recent style choices.

“I spent the first 5 years of my career getting absolutely OBLITERATED by you fools for being boy ish and dressing how i did & constantly being told i’d be hotter if i acted like a woman,” Billie wrote on her Stories, per People. “And now when i feel comfortable enough to wear anything remotely feminine or fitting, i CHANGED and am a sellout.. and ‘what happened to her’ oMg iT’s nOt thE sAmE biLlie she’s just like the rest bla blah…”

“I can be BOTH you f***ing bozos,” she added. “LET WOMEN EXIST! :))))”

In a follow-up Instagram Story, the “Happier Than Ever” singer continued, “FUN FACT! did you know that women are multifaceted!!!!!??? shocking right?? believe it or not women can be interested in multiple things.”

Billie has been outspoken about her style in the past, explaining back in 2019 that she opted for baggy clothes and track suits to avoid sexualization and judgement. “Nobody can have an opinion because they haven’t seen what’s underneath,” she shared in Calvin Klein’s #MyCalvins campaign.

Two years later, in September 2021, Billie opened up to ELLE about the vitriol she had received over her changing style, specifically over one Instagram snapshot where she posed in a cardigan, corset top, and lace bra. “I lost 100,000 followers, just because of the boobs. People are scared of big boobs,” she said.

“People hold on to these memories and have an attachment,” Billie added. “But it’s very dehumanizing.”
