Bill Nye talks science and vintage uniforms on 'Old Baseball Cards'

Bill Nye knows a lot of things. Science, of course, is what we most often associate him with. But as you’ll learn on this week’s episode of “Old Baseball Cards,” our baseball card-driven nostalgia show, Nye also has plenty of baseball memories and a number of takes on vintage uniforms.

Maybe he should adopt Bill Nye the Baseball Uniform Guy as a second nickname?

Nye is back on Netflix with Season 3 of his show, “Bill Nye Saves the World,” which is streaming now. But many kids who were collecting baseball cards back in the day remember him as “Bill Nye the Science Guy.” He’s also a big baseball fan — growing up cheering for the Washington Senators, later the Seattle Mariners and now the Washington Nationals. As he proves on “Old Baseball Cards,” he opens 1979 Topps and I open 1989 Topps, Nye has some baseball knowledge stored in that brain of his.

If this is your first time checking out “Old Baseball Cards” — welcome, we’re glad to have you. This all started with cards my grandma bought when I was a kid back in the ’80s. Like a lot of people, we thought they’d be worth a ton of money by now. They’re not, so I open them up with baseball players, coaches and famous fans, then we trade stories and memories.
