So That’s What Bill Murray Whispered to Selena Gomez on the Cannes Red Carpet

Remember that viral moment on Cannes Film Festival red carpet when Bill Murray whispered into his The Dead Don’t Die co-star Selena Gomez's ear? It set the internet abuzz wondering what on earth the actor could be murmuring about.

And now, the singer and actress has revealed exactly what went down during that secretive exchange.

During an appearance on The Tonight Show, Gomez chatted about her recently completed album and spilled the beans on what Murray was whispering to her in those intriguing photos from Cannes.

"It wasn’t even—first off, that kind of looks weird," Gomez said while looking at the photo that host Jimmy Fallon showed her of the incident. "But he was just saying dumb things, like he would just lean in and be like, ‘You look great tonight.’ And then he’d look back seriously and be like, ‘Where are you from?’ And I would just sit there, and I’m trying to be poised."

Apparently, Murray was just trying to shake things up on the promotion circuit. "That’s what he did all the time," Gomez added. "In press conferences, he’d try to hit me with things. Yeah, it’s just he’s fun. He’s a big kid."

The singer later went on to tell Fallon about her upcoming new album, her first one since “Revival” was released in 2015. And as fans know, Gomez has been through a lot since then (like breaking Beyoncé Instagram record, clapping back at all the haters and undergoing a kidney transplant.)

“I have to do a few finishing things with it but I’m just relieved. It took me four years now to even feel at a good place with this album, and it’s just because I had such huge moments that happened in my life personally that ‘how was I going to capture that?’ and ‘how was I actually going to feel good about what I was saying?’ So I just kept going, and I’m relieved,” she said.

We can't wait to hear it.
