Bill Murray Spotted Enthusiastically Cheering on Son During March Madness Game

Murray's son's team won the championship.

Bill Murray was spotted being a super supportive father to his son, Luke Murray, as the 38-year-old's basketball team dominated the March Madness tournament.

Luke is one of the assistant coaches for the University of Connecticut (UConn) Huskies, who took home the championship after winning against the San Diego State Aztecs in the final game.

Murray was in the audience for many of the tournament games, and he cheered enthusiastically as UConn fought for the title on April 3 in Houston, Texas.

Luke has worked as an assistant coach at UConn since 2021, and before that, he worked with the Xavier Musketeers of Xavier University in Cincinnati, Ohio.

UConn was happy to have Murray supporting them throughout March Madness, even posting a photo of the actor with their mascot on Twitter, adding, "Who’s more famous?"

Murray was interviewed by The Big East after the basketball game on March 25, in which UConn beat the Gonzaga Bulldogs.

The 72-year-old said of his son, "I'm very proud of this boy, he's a wonderful kid and he's worked very hard."

He also shared how nervous he and the team were before the game, but after they won, Murray couldn't stop smiling, telling the reporter, "I had a really big smile on my face earlier...my jaw was hurting."

The Ghostbusters actor is going to need a break after all the traveling for the games, and now he can relax and celebrate with his son.

But it sounds like the actor won't have too much downtime, as he's set to star in Being Mortal with Keke Palmer and Seth Rogan, written and directed by Aziz Ansari, which IMDb lists as currently in production.

He also has another project coming up, voicing a stray dog named Bum opposite Anne Hathaway's Pearl in Bum's Rush, currently in pre-production.
