Bill Burr’s no stranger to acting, having featured in the likes of The Mandalorian, Barry, and The King of Staten Island. His upcoming film, however, marks his directorial debut, with Old Dads heading to Netflix October 20.

Burr’s not only behind the camera, but in front of it too. The film centres on Burr’s character Jack, a middle-aged father who, after selling his company to a millennial, struggles to adapt to a changing culture.

The film also stars Bobby Cannavale and Bokeem Woodbine, who play Jack’s best friends, alongside Katie Aselton, Reign Edwards, Rachael Harris, Miles Robbins and Jackie Tohn.

The producers of Old Dads also brought us Bad Moms, Dirty Grandpa, Borat, and Bruno, which gives us a sense of what sort of tone we can expect.

Having risen up the comedy scene with his searingly funny stand-up, Bill Burr is now a bona fide film and TV star, but we’ll see if his talents translate to directing on October 20 when Old Dads hits Netflix.

It’s a busy month for the streaming service, with a slate of fresh Netflix originals also dropping in October. There’s the new Emily Blunt and Chris Evans movie Pain Hustlers; The Fall of the House of Usher which is based on the Edgar Allen Poe work of the same name; the third season of French mystery thriller Lupin; and a thriller starring Benicio Del Toro and Justin Timberlake called Reptile.
