It's so unfair that the season of eating is how we end the year. What gives? After even a month of all the sweet treats, boozy drinks, and parties, it's easy to start feeling pretty gross. But there is one thing I do to make myself feel better: drink a magical elixir.

I call it an elixir not because I'm putting some spell on it or using bizarre ingredients, but because, like magic, it totally turns you around. I'm a fan of starting my day with a cup of hot lemon water-believers say alkalizing lemon juice balances your pH levels and help flush toxins (jury's still out though)-and this version packs in more stuff.

A mixture of freshly squeezed lemon juice, ground ginger, ground cloves, cayenne, and honey, this super-soothing drink will help settle your stomach, relieve gas, and make you feel invigorated. Drink it after the big meal as a digestif or start your day with it; it'll wake up your system.
