Biker Wins $1k For High-Speed Slab Riding

How cool would it be to make $1000 just by doing what you love?

Alex Chapellier managed to do just that this week when he won $1000 from GoPro for his POV riding down a wet slab in Canada. Watch the clip below.

In this video, Chapellier rides down a trail called Slab City at the Sentiers Du Moulin near Quebec City. In 2020, SDM, as it is known, cut the mile-long trail across a single piece of Granite.

Since then, Slab City has become one of the most popular trails at the network and appeared in many POV videos. Chapellier went to Slab City on a grimy day, but it turned out to be perfect for a camera shot. Charging through the grey mist over the slick rock makes for great visuals.

GoPro thought so as well when they awarded it a grand. This is a very cool marketing strategy by GoPro. Showing cool lines captured on your camera is the best way to sell your product.

These days, there is a bit of a battle between GoPro and rival Insta360 to get athletes' POV. See an Insta360 shot of Slab City below.
