Bike Explodes Mid Run - "We're Going To Need A Stronger Wheel"

Keeping a rear wheel intact for a whole season is a monumental challenge, especially for racers. There is only so much a hoop of aluminum or carbon can withstand.

Camilo Sanchez is someone who puts the hurt on wheels.

Take a look at the video below to see why rear wheels are more of a disposable item for him.

Camilo has established himself as a rising star in the downhill world. He hails from Colombia and is one of the first South American riders to cross over into the mainstream of downhill.

It was really only a matter of time, not just for Camilo, but for South Americans in general to get some shine on the world stage. This year, Camilo was invited to Red Bull Hardline and was racing in some of the World Cups.

As for South America as a whole, the riders down there are pushing it in urban downhills and freeride to a notable degree.

For those not acquainted, urban downhill is gnarly. If you thought falling on dirt sucked, try concrete. And at Mach 5.

Urban riding aside, the mountain biking in South and Central America is an untapped goldmine of some of the most diverse and rugged terrain that is just begging to be ridden.

South American swooning aside, we are glad to see that Camilo was alright after this slam and back up racing shortly after.
