AMATS and Hudson officials will use public insights gathered during the event to update the Hudson Walk & Bike Plan to the years 2026 through 2030. Updated every five years, the plan is part of Hudson’s ongoing efforts to provide safe and practical community-wide bicycle and pedestrian connectivity throughout the community.

Bike & Brainstorms are public meetings that include a bike ride and brainstorming session among participants. During sessions, participants share their insights on how to improve biking and pedestrian access in a community. AMATS relies on these events to encourage public engagement in the planning process in the Greater Akron area.

Participants in the May 11 Bike & Brainstorm will meet at 10 a.m. at the Hudson Library & Historical Society, 96 Library Street to register for a 4.3-mile trek through Hudson. Free pre-ride bike inspections provided by All-Around Cyclery will be available to cyclists prior to departure. The route will include stops at the Western Reserve Academy, Hunting Hollow Lane, and Prospect Road to allow participants to share ideas regarding how to improve bike and pedestrian access and potential extensions of the nearby Veterans Trail.

The event includes an open house in the library from 10 a.m. until noon. Representatives from AMATS will be available to receive feedback and insights regarding bike and pedestrian facilities in Hudson. Participation in the bike ride is not required to attend the open house.
