A Big Top Inspired Luxury Celebration Charleston's Gaillard Center

The magic that happens when Event Designer, Tara Guerard, and Photographer, Liz Banfield, work alongside one another...is palpable. And this Charleston wedding that brought the crazy talented pair together is probably one of the most absurdly beautiful, wildly fun weddings we've ever seen. Set against a charming Southern backdrop, with details rooted in tradition and all out luxury, then graced with the whimsy of a Big Top Tent - we're talking aerialists, drag queens and a high school marching band!?!? - it's one of those affairs that you only wish you could have seen in person. Not to fret, ladies. We've got the next best thing. Read on!

We're so excited to share with you a formal Charleston wedding designed by famed wedding planner - and dear friend of Abby & Tait, Tara Guerard of Tara Guerard Soiree. The stylistic goal was to capture the charm of the South, the sparkle of the couple's international travel and the whimsy of the big top circus to a wedding reception.

Every last detail was tended to, ensuring that the couple could relax into the moment knowing that their guests were doted upon from the moment the arrive - like this stunning champagne tower filled with a perfect glass of something cold, luxurious and entirely celebratory.

Held in the newly renovated Gaillard Center in the heart of downtown, the ceremony was held in the lobby then the couple and their guests celebrated with the party of all parties. As guests entered the ceremony, Tara featured a garland chuppa.

While the decor alone was enough to wow, the entertainment was OFF. THE. CHARTS. Starting with a high school marching band serenade...

...the crowd was dazzled by aerial artists twirling above the bar followed by a magician and drag queen performance to close out the evening.

The decor was kept chic and simple while the ceiling was draped with fabric and architectural garland. The greenery wrapped chandeliers felt whimsical and yet classic at the same time and provided a pretty incredible juxtaposition to the aerial dancers.

While the ceiling was grand and dramatic, the centerpieces, linens and rentals were kept simple and Southern. Full of charm and approachability while still rooted in all out luxury.

Inspired by their love of travel and international food, they explored various cuisines from hand-rolled sushi to chicken tikka masala.

Tara and her team used lanterns throughout to cast a soft glow inside the large ballroom that transitioned from dinner to dancing in the most spectacular way. And the highlight of the night...

...was the STUNNING Drag Queen show and dancing that followed. It was a magical night that will most definitely be remembered by guests and the couple alike.

Later that evening, the bride changed into a flirty and fabulous Little White Dress and guests wished them love with a sparkler exit amidst the gorgeous Charleston backdrop.
