"After months of assembly at CWA in Switzerland, Big Sky Resort’s new Lone Peak Tram cabins are complete and en route to Big Sky.

Two 75-passenger cabins, each weighing 6,615 pounds, have begun the more than 5,000-mile journey from Olten, Switzerland.

The cabins departed from Olten to the port of Zeebrugge, Belgium, where they were loaded on a cargo ship. The cabins will travel by ship through the Panama Canal before reaching Port Hueneme, California, where they will be loaded onto a truck to their final destination – Big Sky, Montana.

The new cabins are expected to arrive in Big Sky in late August."

The new Tram is a major upgrade from the game-changing lift that was installed on Lone Peak back in 1995.

More people will be able to access the summit than ever, but the upgrade comes with changes to the pricing structure. Skiers could previously access the Tram by paying a daily rate.

The new Lone Peak Tram will implement per ride fees that will range from "$10-40+" depending on demand. This decision has been met with opposition from locals since it was announced in the spring.
