Big Sky, MT Received Six Feet Of Snow In March

"Miracle March" proved to be a widespread phenomenon across the West.

Big Sky Resort, Montana, which received six feet of snow last month, was among the many beneficiaries.

Yesterday, of course, was a bit of a black hole in ski media—with the fools and all. But Big Sky wasn't playing around in this case, noting that the snowy news was "no April Fools' joke."

Thank goodness for that. Big Sky was in a challenging position at the turn of the year.

In January, Explore Big Sky reported that the resort was experiencing its lowest snow year across 33 years of "reliable data." The Lone Mountain SNOTEL Site—which provides snow water equivalent readings near Big Sky—was roughly 50% below the median at the end of January.

Since then, the Lone Mountain SNOTEL Site has bounced back, now sitting at 75% of the median, which is good news for Big Sky skiers.

There's about a month left to take advantage of Big Sky's rejuvenated snowpack. The resort closes for the season on April 28th.

To keep the spring vibes high during these final weeks of skiing, Big Sky's hosting the Spring Series Après, which features DJs bumping tunes across the mountain at locales like Everett's Deck and the Mountain Village.

Plans for closing day are forthcoming, although it's safe to assume that it'll be a party, too. Stay tuned.
