'Big Brother' Fans Say Season 22 Is “Rigged” and “Totally Unfair”

From Good Housekeeping

  • Big Brother: All Stars premiered Wednesday night on CBS.

  • In response to the premiere episode of season 22, some BB fans were outraged that one of the competitions seemed "rigged" to help the male contestants.

Though Big Brother: All Stars just kicked off season 22 Wednesday night, it's already drawing ire from some fans watching at home. The long-running CBS show prompted Twitter backlash after one of the first competitions for the housemates appeared titled in the male contestants' favor.

It all started when the search for the Head of Household (HOH) kicked off. Upon entering the Big Brother house, contestants had to answer a question and search through the house for the answer (which ended up being the rooms themselves). Once they found their answers/designated rooms, they then had to lock them in on their giant game boards. To do this, each contestant had to maneuver balls into the holes associated with the rooms of the house on the game board.

Seems straightforward, right? Well, kind of ... except for the fact that, according to #BB22 Twitter, the female housemates had rooms that were furthest away for the ball to reach on the board, making it much more difficult to complete the task. As a result, most of the male contestants qualified for the next round. Eventually, Cody Calafiore was declared the winner.

The challenge made fans watching at home quite upset, calling the obstacle "rigged" and "totally unfair."

This is hardly the first time Big Brother has landed in hot water. On a much more serious note, last season Big Brother prompted serious backlash after one of its contestants, Jack Matthews, spewed racist and derogatory comments about his fellow housemates Kemi Fakunle and Isabella Wang. Upon his eviction, Jack apologized for the remarks he made about Kemi and claimed that his comment in regards to Bella had nothing to do with her race.

In this season though, it's clear fans are hoping the CBS show puts forth fairer competitions moving forward. And if they don't, #BB22 Twitter will definitely speak out.
