Beyonce's Mom Tina Knowles Files For Divorce After 8 Years of Marriage

Beyoncé and Solange's mom, Tina Knowles, is moving to officially pull the plug on her second marriage, filing for divorce from actor Richard Lawson, according to legal documents.

The fashion designer, businesswoman and philanthropist submitted the paperwork to a Los Angeles Superior Court on Wednesday, July 26, citing irreconcilable differences, following eight years of marriage.

In the documents, the 69-year-old asked that the ability to award spousal support to her or the Poltergeist actor be terminated. Additionally, she requested that she be entitled to keep all property and belongings that are hers, purchased either before or during the marriage.

This comes just a few weeks after the House of Deréon cofounder's home was burglarized while she was out of town. As Parade previously reported, the robbers made away with an entire safe of cash and jewelry worth over $1 million, according to local law enforcement.

After two years of dating, the former couple tied the knot in an all-white ceremony in April 2015, aboard a yacht in Newport Beach, California, surrounded by loved ones.

Tina previously admitted that the thought of exchanging vows again never crossed her mind, and it was actually her granddaughter Blue Ivy—a mere toddler at the time—who brought the idea to the surface, after asking her and Richard when they were getting married.

Although the pair has no children together, Knowles, of course, shares her two daughters with ex-husband Matthew Knowles, to whom she was married for 31 years from 1980–2011, and to whom Beyoncé and Solange have both attributed their early career success to.

Lawson, on the other hand, is father to actress Bianca Lawson with ex-wife Denise Gordy, as well as son Ricky Lawson, from a separate relationship.
