In case you haven’t heard, Beyoncé just debuted a new hairstyle in London—and it’s a big change. You might not be over the shock of this short, baby-bang ‘do just yet. You’re not alone. Many Bey fans have taken to Twitter to express their disapproval of her new look. But maybe talking about it more will help with the coping process.

Ruben Colon, a stylist from Sally Hershberger Downtown salon in New York City, says these short, heavy bangs without any texture are best for a woman with a lot of confidence. “Anybody with a round face will not look good with these baby bangs,” he says. “You need big eyes, high cheekbones, and full lips.”

As far as styling goes, avoid the big-and-bouncy look. “Blow them straight and take a flat iron to keep them really close,” he says. “You don’t want any life at all with these bangs.”

If you’re ready to go for it, be prepared to make frequent trips to your salon. “You need to get them trimmed at least every three to five weeks,” says Colon, who notes that these bangs will grow out quickly. “I usually have clients come in between haircuts to get the bangs trimmed.”

Still having trouble dealing? A quick scroll through Queen B’s Instagram will show you just how often she changes up her hair, so we can pretty much guarantee that these Bettie Page bangs aren’t permanent. Maybe next week’s style will be a little easier for the rest of us to wear. (And if not, Beyoncé’s bangs will grow out eventually.)
